Reflection: Describe your work process, what you learned and how you can apply your newfound knowledge into future images |
#1: (4/2-4/8) |
Rule of Thirds |
Process: The process was mainly just set up, and getting everything right were I wanted before getting shots. I moved the light from high to low and to different sides to see what angles was most interesting. What I Learned: I will now for the future that using the gold/silver reflects does bring an interesting hue without being too intense to just add to the final photo. Future Application: In the future I will be able to know how side versus top light changes the shadows and highlighted areas of a face, as well as pick out the gold or silver reflects based on what added hue will benefit the photo. |
#2: (4/8-4/12) |
Framing |
Description of Work Process: I set up a projector that would project images of mine onto the model's face and around their body and set the camera on a tripod with a medium ISO to keep the images less grainy, but increased the length of the shutter shutter speed to compensate for the lack of light in the room. What I Learned: I learned that the distance and orientation of the photos that are being projected is very important to the end composition. Future Application of Newfound Knowledge: I will be able to create more interesting compost ions and frame with the light coming from old photos using a projector. |
#3: (4/15-4/26) |
Depth/ Leading Lines |
Description of Work Process: i waited for the sun to come to be setting through the door, kicked up some dust particles and then framed the shot with the natural volumetric lighting. What I Learned: Natural lighting can be used in creative and somewhat difficult ways, as long as you plan ahead and find the right setting. Future Application of Newfound Knowledge: I know that the barn is a good place with the small windows and natural dust that I can use the lighting to create a three dimensional look. |
#4: (4/29-5/3) |
Viewpoint |
Description of Work Process: I found a image to be the background of a product image that would increase interest but not take away from the main subject and then lined up the height of the image with the plain black bottom, then adjusted the aperture until the mug was in focus when the background was blurred. What I Learned: It can be relatively simple with just a monitor and a black folder to create unique lighting and background images. Future Application of Newfound Knowledge: I can use this in the future when I want a seamless yet creative background for small still-life photos. |
#5: (5/6-5/10) |
Experimentation |
Description of Work Process: I had Claire in an all blacked out room, with her phone on the brightest setting on a blank white screen, to get the most amount of illumination on her face. What I Learned: I learned that using alternative lighting sources can be very effective as well as add an interesting aspect to an image. Future Application of Newfound Knowledge: I will know that cell phones can add lots of light and can be used as just background light ( not necessarily as much a part of the overall meaning of the image, like this example). |
